Stuart Pigott - 20th September 2018

97 Points, Trittenheimer Apotheke Riesling Beerenauslese 2017: „On the nose, this embryonic BA still has quite a bit of mushroom character from botrytis, though this will integrate with time. On the palate, however, this is already stunning with great concentration of lush apricot and papaya fruit, very polished acidity and a super-long finish that is totally pristine. Decades of aging potential. Drink or hold.“
95 Points, Trittenheimer Apotheke Riesling Auslese 2017: „This Auslese almost perfectly manages the sweet Mosel riesling balancing act between enormous fruit (fresh apricot with some exotic notes), vibrant acidity and refreshing minerality. Very long finish with a ton of mandarin-orange character. Drink or hold.“
94 Points, Trittenheimer Apotheke Riesling trocken: “Don't be deceived by the rather shy first impression. This still has some yeasty notes from the long, wild ferment. It also has great candied-citrus and dried-herb notes. At once richly textured, finely nuanced and light-footed on the palate, it builds up to a great crescendo on the very long, super-mineral finish. Drink or hold.“
94 points, Trittenheimer Apotheke Riesling Spätlese 2017: “I love the very ripe white-peach aroma of this very elegant Spätlese. A really precise balance of full juiciness with vibrant acidity, then a ton of mineral character at the super-clean finish. Drink or hold.”
93 Points, Piesporter Goldtröpchen Riesling feinherb 2017: „A serious, just off-dry Mosel riesling with a very distinctive combination of apricot and mango aromas. Some smokiness from long lees contact, too, and an intensely spicy and mineral core that drives the long, rich finish. Drink or hold.“
92 Points, Steinreich Riesling trocken 2017: “You really feel like you're smelling the slate soil of these vineyards when you put your nose in the glass. Then, on the palate that slate character is beautifully married to a delicate yet juicy peach character. The crisp finish is really long and intensely mineral for a wine that effectively belongs to the village category. Drink or hold.”
92 points, Trittenheimer Apotheke Riesling Kabinett 2017: “There’s a huge amount of energy here! It’s quite funky from wild ferment, but also offers plenty of ripe apples and some blossom. A juicy and citrusy wine with a super-crisp and almost dry finish. Drink or hold. Screw cap.“
91 Points, VOM SCHIEFER Riesling feinherb 2017: “Ripe pears and white peaches with a touch of fresh herbs on the nose. This a very charming, just off-dry Mosel that's juicy and elegant with a very fresh finish. Great food compatibility and value for money! Drink now. Screw cap.“
90 Points, VOM SCHIEFER Riesling trocken 2017: “Brimming with white-peach, pear and herb aromas, this dry riesling marries expressiveness with the lightness and brightness that you expect from the Mosel. Quite long, lemony finish. Drink now. Screw cap.”

Stephan Reinhardt - 27th Apr 2018

92 Points – 2016 Trittenheimer APOTHEKE Riesling trocken: “From a roughly 100-year-old plot, this wine opens with intense, concentrated, perfectly ripe fruit intertwined with fine slate and floral aromas. Full-bodied, lush and very elegant, with great finesse and floral aromas, this is a pure and beautifully balanced Apotheke whose fine, refreshing acidity is perfectly integrated and interwoven with lingering "minerals" and finely weathered slate flavors. It's a gorgeous Apotheke and one of the finest I have tasted from Eva Clüsserath. Drink Date: 2018-2033”
92 Points – 2016 PIESPORTER GOLDTRÖPFCHEN Riesling feinherb: “It displays a clear, aromatic bouquet with ripe, lush fruit and fine slate aromas. Light but mouthfilling and lush on the palate, this is a delicious, beautifully finessed Goldtröpfchen with piquant but well-integrated acidity, good crunchy grip and lingering, highly stimulating salinity plus a long, aromatic finish. A Mosel classic that should be served with raw fish and spicy dishes! Drink Date: 2018-2035”
91 Points – 2016 Trittenheimer APOTHEKE Riesling trocken: White peach, apple and lime are subtly marked by the piquancy of their seeds and pits, as well as by subtle suggestions of crushed stone and smoky black tea. A cooling infusion of basil adds to the appeal of a buoyant, lusciously fruited, silken-textured palate. The lingering finish here is transparent to stony, smoky, and marine mineral nuances. These old vines yielded tiny, unblemished green-gold berries, reported Clüsserath, and those optical observations certainly fit the resulting wine’s irresistible flavors. Drink 2017-2025
91 Points – 2016 Trittenheimer APOTHEKE Riesling Kabinett: “This Kabinett has a bright citrus color and a bouquet of flowers and discreet fruit aromas, very clear and only shyly opening up with vegetal and fine Riesling aromas. This is a lush, piquant, mouth-filling but pure and refined Apotheke with elegant fruit and a stunningly complex, grippy finish. With lingering slate aromas, this is terribly fresh and mineral—a picture-book Kabinett that is still very, very young but already delicious! Drink Date: 2020-2040”
90 Points – 2016 STEINREICH Riesling trocken: “The "Steinreich" displays a beautifully intense bouquet that combines ripe and concentrated Riesling aromas with flinty mineral suggestions of broken slate and even floral notes. This is a serious Riesling almost exclusively from the Apotheke (with just a bit of the Dhroner Hofberg). Intense and lush but very elegant, with a velvety texture plus highly delicate acidity on the palate, this is a superbly balanced and complex Riesling at 11% alcohol. The finish reveals nice grip and stunning length with crunchy slate flavors. This is first-class gastro wine to be served with all kinds of fish (even raw or just stewed) and lighter dishes.”
89 Points - 2016 VOM SCHIEFER Riesling feinherb: “The "Vom Schiefer" feinherb fermented very long, until July, and wasn't bottled until August 2017 (AP #11). The wine has a beautifully delicate and aromatic bouquet with floral and slatey notes indicating perfectly ripe and juicy fruit. The palate is round and lush, very elegant and well balanced, with a juicy but well-structured and salty finish. This is a lovely Mosel classic with charming fruit and that kind of sweetness that comes along as fruit juice. The acidity is very delicate but vivacious here, and the finish reveals crunchy slate flavors. Absolutely delicious. 10% alcohol. Drink Date: 2018-2030”
88 Points - 2016 VOM SCHIEFER Riesling trocken: The 2016 Riesling Feinherb "Representing fruits from Trittenheim (mainly the Altärchen) and Neumagen, the 2016 Riesling Trocken "Vom Schiefer" displays a bright citrus color followed by bright, spicy/slatey and rather lean fruit. Round and lush on the dry and filigreed palate, this is a floral Riesling with nice grip and an aromatic finish. Have I ever had a Riesling this delicate and floral? A perfect wine for spring and lighter dishes. Drink Date: 2018-2030"

Vinous – “Mosel Riesling 2016 Part 2: Longuich to Graach”

January 2018, David Schildknecht
89 Points – Trittenheimer APOTHEKE Riesling Kabinett: Fresh apple and lime are coolingly laced with basil and incisively accented with cress in a performance whose sweetness supports a luscious fruit presence while in no way precluding animating brightness and consummate refreshment. The delicately lingering finish is not nearly so strikingly transparent or minerally diverse as that of the best wines in the present collection, but exhibits an appropriate suggestion of wet stone. And with time, greater complexity may well emerge. Drink 2017-2028
89 Points – 2016 STEINREICH Riesling trocken: White peach, apple and muskmelon on the nose anticipate the ripeness and bright juiciness that characterize the polished, subtly waxy palate of a cuvée that draws heavily on the Dhroner Hofberg. [mehr] The finish here lingers nicely, and with a decisive sense of stone suffusion, albeit not the salinity or quite the sheer refreshment exhibited by the “Vom Schiefer.” With some time (no need to worry about an early demise!) it may well prove superior to its ostensibly lesser sibling. Drink 2017-2022
90 Points - 2016 VOM SCHIEFER Riesling trocken: A classic nose and juicy abundance of white peach and lime are coolingly laced with green herbs and underlain by wet stone. The feel is polished and the buoyant finish is at once soothing and stimulatingly zesty, as well as infectiously juicy, with an influx of salinity serving to really milk the salivary glands. This is one of the most successful installments of Clüsserath’s “Vom Schiefer” that I can recall [mehr]. Experience shows that this ostensibly “little” wine will age well - Drink 2017-2022
90 Points – Trittenheimer APOTHEKE Riesling Spätlese: Clüsserath and her father left optimal clusters hanging while picking for Kabinett and then returned late in late October and early November to capture two fuders’ worth of Spätlese. Ripe nectarine, pear and white peach dominate an effusive nose and a luscious, strikingly creamy palate. The lingering finish is seductively soothing and the sense of sweetness is adeptly judged. Here is another of the Ansgar Clüsserath 2016s that may well gain with time in bottle, and at the very least it’s almost sure to age gracefully. Drink 2017-2032
93 Points – 2016 PIESPORTER GOLDTRÖPFCHEN Riesling feinherb: Grapefruit, white peach and pineapple dominate the effusive nose and brightly tingling palate, while hints of honeysuckle perfume and almond extract add allure and complement the wine’s underlying textural polish and near-creaminess. Subtle sweetness is entirely supportive without becoming at all obvious. The buoyant, lusciously lingering finish is at once soothing and invigoratingly animated, mirroring the similarly delicious paradox of near-creaminess with bright juiciness[mehr]. Once again, this is exemplary, profound, not to mention irresistible stuff. Drink 2017-2032

Stephan Reinhardt – 28th April 2017
88 Points – 2015 Trittenheimer APOTHEKE Riesling Kabinett: The 2015 Trittenheimer Apotheke Riesling Kabinett is clear, fresh and pure on the nose and delivers just-ripe but pretty intense citrus fruit and slate aromas. Round, piquant and fruity, this is a mouth-full of delicate, finessed and salty Kabinett that reveals a good and stimulating grip and lightness. It has 8% alcohol and 45 gram of residual sugar. Drink Date 2017 – 2030
89+ Points – 2015 STEINREICH Riesling trocken: The golden yellow 2015 Riesling Trocken Steinreich offers an intense, ripe and lemony bouquet of ripe stone fruits intertwined with smoky flavors of crushed stones and some herbal notes. Round, ripe and pretty intense on the palate, this is a medium-bodied, fine and elegant yet racy dry Riesling with a clear, fresh and citrus-flavored finish that is very stony again but also quite intellectual.
90 Points – 2015 PIESPORTER GOLDTRÖPFCHEN feinherb: From roughly 30-year-old-vines, the 2015 Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling Feinherb is still a bit yeasty and nutty on the nose but indicates fully ripe, intense and concentrated fruit, with the clear crystallinity still remaining in the background. Full-bodied, rich and piquant, this is a mouthful of elegant Riesling that is sour, bitter and sweet at the same time at this early stage. However, the finish is quite long and intense, revealing good structure. Drink Date 2020 - 2029
90 Points – 2015 Trittenheimer APOTHEKE Riesling Auslese: The 2015 Trittenheimer Apotheke Riesling Auslese is still discreet on the nose but clear, intense and concentrated, with mineral and lemon flavors. Made from over-ripe, purple-colored grapes, this is a very delicate, finessed and light-bodied but intense Auslese that is pretty filigreed and salty on the palate and rather lean, pure and stimulating compared to modern super sweet Mosel Ausleses. Drink Date 2022 – 2035
91 Points – 2015 Trittenheimer APOTHEKE Riesling Spätlese: The 2015 Trittenheimer Apotheke Riesling Spätlese is very clear, precise and flinty on the nose, with piquant lemon and stony aromas. Mouthfilling, round, finessed and elegant on the palate, this is a well balanced Spätlese with pronounced acidity and a well structured, salty finish with good grip. Picked on 20-21 October at 90° Oechsle, this Spätlese finished at 8.5% alcohol and 68 grams of residual sugar, which makes it a good food partner in 10+ years. Drink Date 2022 – 2035
92 Points – 2015 Trittenheimer APOTHEKE Riesling trocken: From a warm, well protected, low-yielding 100-year-old plot in the lower part of the cru, the 2015 Trittenheimer Apotheke Riesling Trocken is clear, deep and intense on the nose, with perfectly ripe and concentrated Riesling aromas intermixed with refreshing slate and lemon aromas. Very complex. Full-bodied, lush, intense yet pure, dry and with remarkable finesse and racy acidity, this is clear and elegant, very finessed and persistently salty cru with a long, intense and aromatically complex finish.
92 Points – 2015 Trittenheimer APOTHEKE Riesling Auslese GK: Picked from the same plot and on the same day as the dry Apotheke grand cru, this wine is the selection of botrytis grapes that weighed in at 125° Oechsle. Very clear and intense on the concentrated nose, with ripe grapefruit and herbal citrus flavors, this is a finessed and elegant Auslese with very fine and stimulatingly piquant acidity followed by a long and aromatic finish. The wine is much more intense but also finer and more complex than the regular Auslese; however, it is very very digestible. This should be an excellent wine with food in 10 to 20 years. Drink Date 2025 – 2045

2014 Ansgar Clüsserath Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling feinherb

92 points:
The 2014 Piesporter Goldtröpchen Riesling Feinherb opens with a dusty/slatey bouquet intermixed with super clear and ripe Riesling, orange and red cassis flavors. Round, elegant and intense, with a nice creaminess and delicate tannins on the palate, this full-bodied, virtually dry and complex Goldtröpchen brings out the zesty/fruity character of the fresh red currant that which are so typical for the Goldtröpchen cru. This is an impressively intense and perfectly balanced fruit. A stunning and age-worthy wine!

2014 Ansgar Clüsserath Riesling trocken Steinreich

88 points:
Mainly sourced in the Apotheke with a smaller part from the Dhron Hofberger, Clüsserath's 2014 Riesling Trocken Steinreich offers a clear, deep, mineral and elegant bouquet of ripe, bright fruits with stone and lemon flavors. Medium-bodied, seriously dry and piquant, with refreshing lemon and white stone fruit aromas, this is an already accessible Riesling with great elegance, and lingering salinity and tension. Very well balanced. Great wine to quaff but with ambitions.

2014 Ansgar Clüsserath Riesling Trocken Vom Schiefer

88 points:
The 2014 Riesling Trocken Vom Schiefer assembles grapes from Trittenheim, Neumagen and Mühlheim, and offers lovely, clear and aromatic, bright lemon and apple fruit along with the flavor of crushed and weathered slate plates. Light to medium-bodied, silky and elegant on the palate, this is an intense and lingering mineral Riesling with great finesse and tension. Delicious. Just 10.5% alcohol.

2014 Ansgar Clüsserath Trittenheimer Apotheke Riesling Kabinett

89 points:
Clüsserath's 2014 Trittenheimer Apotheke Riesling Kabinett offers an invitingly clear and flinty bouquet of white fruits and herbal flavors. Light but juicy and racy-piquant on the palate, this is a round and delicate rather than sweet Kabinett, with a stimulating finish. Drinking this gorgeous Kabinett means a lot of fun for two.

2014 Ansgar Clüsserath Trittenheimer Apotheke Riesling Spätlese

92 points:
Picked at 90° Oechsle, the 2014 Trittenheimer Apotheke Riesling Spätlese opens with ethereal flavors of a softwood forest, lime leaves and zests, as well as lemon oil on the nose. Full-bodied, round, intense and elegant, with a firm and mineral structure, this is an excellent Spätlese that tastes not too sweet (...) but is piquant and provided with grip and structure. This wine could stand up to serious food. Very good length.

2014 Ansgar Clüsserath Trittenheimer Apotheke Riesling Trocken

91 points:
Clüsserath's 2014 Trittenheimer Apotheke Riesling Trocken opens with a deep, fresh and smoky, very mineral nose, with clear though discreet lemon flavors. Full-bodied, intense and elegant on the palate, with a racy yet fully integrated acidity, this is a lean but mineral and tension-filled Riesling with an aromatic pineapple finish. This is serious good terroir Riesling made from perfectly selected grapes from 100-year-old ungrafted vines.
